What we collect

Playoff Reel ("the app") is a real-time party game. The host opens a room on a TV or laptop; players join from their phones via a four-letter code and submit GIFs and captions. We collect the minimum needed to run a game session:

• Player display name entered when joining a room (transient — discarded when the room ends).
• Submissions (selected clip URLs, captions, votes) for the duration of the game. Not retained after the room closes.
• Roast Mode photos (when Roast Mode is enabled): photos you upload are stored on Cloudflare Images for the duration of the game session only. Photos are automatically deleted when the game ends (the room closes or the host starts a new game). We do not retain, index, or share these photos. You must agree to a terms-of-use checkbox on the upload screen attesting that you have permission to upload the images.
• Standard server logs (IP, user-agent, timestamps) retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention and debugging.

Reporting and moderation

Each player can report any uploaded photo in-game via the Report button. Two reports remove the photo from the round immediately. Cloudflare's platform-level content scanning automatically detects and reports known child-exploitation imagery (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as required by U.S. federal law; accounts found to host such content are terminated without notice. Uploading illegal content is a crime and a violation of these terms.

What we don't collect

• No player accounts, passwords, or persistent profiles.
• No microphone, camera, or location data.
• No third-party advertising or tracking pixels.

Third-party services

Clip search uses the Giphy API; queries are proxied through our server with a server-side API key. Giphy's own privacy policy applies to anything served from their CDN.

Roast Mode photo storage and delivery uses Cloudflare Images. Photos are addressed by unguessable UUIDs and auto-deleted when the game session ends.

Data location

Game state lives in memory on a US-East server (DigitalOcean App Platform, NYC). Optional Redis snapshots expire after two hours. Roast Mode photos are stored in Cloudflare's global Images network (edge-cached, typically US/EU) and deleted at session end.

Children

Playoff Reel is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
